Key updates to the IPPF framework you should know about
In July this year the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) unveiled enhancements to its International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF). It’s important to know what’s changed and what hasn’t and that’s why we’ve summarized the changes for you.
What’s New?
Mission:
The IPPF now contains a “Mission of Internal Audit” statement. The mission reads as follows: “To enhance and protect organizational value by providing risk-based and objective assurance, advice, and insight.”

BarnOwl/IRMSA ERM Risk Maturity Survey
BarnOwl and IRMSA have conducted a survey to assist with the measurement of risk maturity in Southern Africa. We will share the results of our risk maturity survey shortly. Thank you to all the respondents.

Info Sharing
The BarnOwl info sharing breakfast held on the 27th August 2015 was very well attended and focused on two topics, namely ‘King IV – an update on the progress so far’ and ‘What makes an internal audit function a valuable asset’. We would like to thank our guest speakers; Gert Cruywagen, and Liesl Brown, head of internal audit at Cell C for their time and insightful presentations.

Spotlight Session
BarnOwl proudly presented a “Spotlight” session on 11th August 2015 on the topic of Voting, Surveys and Questionnaires. In this session customers experienced an in-depth look of BarnOwl’s voting and survey functionality plus the latest functionality was highlighted.

User Group
BarnOwl was proud to showcase the recent enhancements to the product to our users in an interactive session held at the BarnOwl Auditorium on the 01 September 2015.
For the first time, the session was repeated in Cape Town on the 03 September 2015 at the Milnerton Library, a venue kindly hosted by the City of Cape Town. The sessions were both very well attended, with a large representation of BarnOwl clients present.
The notable features that have been added to the system were demonstrated and our clients were able to give their valuable input and suggestions into the BarnOwl Roadmap…

IRMSA Annual Conference – Risk Managers to the Rescue!
The annual two day conference includes discussions on success stories, best practices and key challenges that South African Risk Managers face. The conference is structured to include presentations by leading practitioners and quality speakers. This is an excellent opportunity for information exchange, acquiring risk management knowledge, and networking with fellow Risk Management professionals and industry leaders across all industries.
